Senior Pharmacist – Substance Use – NHS Scotland – Dunfermline

NHS Fife has an opportunity for an enthusiastic and experienced pharmacist to lead the continued development and delivery of Pharmaceutical Care Services to patients with substance use problems. As well as supporting Substance Use Services delivered through Community Pharmacy, Addictions Services, BBV services in NHS Fife you will work with agencies such as the Fife Alcohol and Drugs Partnership, Police Scotland and third sector agencies such as We Are With You. You will contribute to the achievement of MAT standards in NHS Fife.

The work will involve ensuring the safe, effective and economic use of medicines to ensure patients get the best possible outcomes from their medicines and avoid harm and waste in the Substance Use setting. You will be a team player and have the ability to act independently, managing your own workload and that of others, particularly in the delivery of Substance Use services through Community Pharmacies. You will possess excellent organisational skills, with the ability to take forward developments and manage change effectively. In addition, you will function as a key member of the NHS Fife Mental Health Pharmacy Team.

You will also be involved in education and training of other professionals and facilitating the implementation of local and national guidelines. You will liaise with other specialties to improve prescribing practice of relevant medicines. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential. You will be a registered pharmacist with a background in hospital, primary care or community pharmacy. Experience of working in more than one of these areas would be advantageous. It would be desirable to have previous experience of working within a Mental Health / Substance Use environment.
