ROLE SUMMARY
We are currently looking for a Product Engineering Team Leader to join our busy Operations department based at our global HQ in Dunfermline, Fife. The Product Engineering Team Leader will lead a dedicated team of engineers focused on new product introduction into manufacturing and sustaining product engineering management.
The Product Engineering Team Leader will manage the product engineering team, support technical product requirements and drive product improvements in line with best practices, and identify and co-ordinate technical support requirements for both internal and external customers.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Providing post-launch Product Engineering, for all legacy products. The Product Engineering Team Leader owns the planning, communication and delivery of approved Product Engineering activity.
Developing a robust process for timely prioritization and closure of Product Engineering issues and driving continuous improvement of support performance through the implementation and monitoring of appropriate metrics.
Working in conjunction with New Product Development and Quality to develop an appropriate reliability strategy as well as tailoring and executing qualification, verification and validation plans both for individual products and design changes.
Work closely with Product Development organization to recommend and implement best practice engineering tools, processes, metrics and training that will continuously drive organizational improvement.
Responsibility for primary hiring, on-time performance appraisals, coaching, employee development and necessary communications regarding performance issues.
Attracting and retaining the best talent through effective career planning and development plans.
Understanding the organizational need to address under performers and develop the next generation of leaders.
Planning, organising, staffing and controlling the Product Engineering function within appropriate guidelines, policies and regulations.
Ensuring the Product Engineering team has clarity of business expectations with crisp linkage to plans, clearly defined and prioritised objectives, critical success factors, deliverables and quality targets.
Ensure compliance with all regulatory and GMP activities within the Product Engineering Group.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s Degree (or equivalent) in a technical or manufacturing related subject or equivalent education gained through work experiences.
Demonstrated people management/leadership skills in a senior engineering role either as a team lead or manager.
Detailed understanding of quality systems, GMP and design controls.
Experience in technical design, project management and relationship management essential.
Previous background in test and/or reliability would be advantageous.
Strong process orientation and ability to drive continuous improvement.
Self-starter with the ability to proactively identify problem situations and propose technically competent solutions.
Excellent interpersonal skills, proven track record of building strong relationships at all levels and ability to communicate appropriate expectations in relation to deliverables.
