ROLE SUMMARY

We are currently recruiting for an exceptional and experienced Principal Software Engineer in Test to head up our software automation strategy and improvement. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a highly motivated team of engineers working for a company who are the world leaders in retinal imaging products. Being part of a global software development team, you will assess our current automation test environment and coverage, formulating a test and implementation strategy. You will also work with the DevOps team to create a concept of Auto SDLC, which tests/monitors quality per software development build. This role will play a significant part of ensuring the Quality of released software, vital when delivering into the medical eyecare sector.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Take the technical lead in improving software automation testing, providing hands on support to accelerate progress.

Scale automation testing, creating test parallelism, to enable Developers to assess the quality of their builds in close to real time as possible.

Monitor and report on Software quality, decomposing this per build, product, engineer, version, functional area etc.

Assess automation findings, with an aim of undercovering and logging defects.

Hands on Software development of automation tests, increasing coverage, enabling tests to run in parallel, both on actual hardware and virtual environments.

Work closely with the DevOps team, to ensure that tooling and IT infrastructure is in place to realise best in class software automation.

Lead the building of tools, infrastructure and processes that enable development teams continuously to test their products.

Work with development teams to demonstrate how to design for testability and to benefit from approaches such as TDD and BDD.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Degree level in Computer Science, Mathematics or a related technical field, or equivalent education gained through work experience.

Continuous test, integration, development, tooling, and processes experience.

10 years plus experience developing software automation tests on Windows and Linux

Experience using virtualisation platform, Docker.

Experience leading a Team on Autonomation Test System design, implementation and deployment.

Extensive, hands-on programming experience in Python.

Team orientated, responsive and customer focused.

An ability to work within tight deadlines and manage time effectively.

Strong written/verbal communication and presentation skills.
