The Mission Systems Project Manager role is based within our Mission Systems business area

The role
The difference our new Project Manager will make

As a Project Manager you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. You’ll be responsible for day-to-day subcontract management of the Mission Systems scope of work

Day to day, you’ll manage key aspects of Mission Systems projects, including safety, scope, schedule, finance, risk quality and resources.

You’ll as act as a key contact for Mission System stakeholders and have programmatic and technical involvement with the Type 31 Systems Engineering Team. You’ll work with the business unit functional departments to identify and deliver improvements in quality, schedule, and cost within the project whilst reporting directly to the Type 31 Programme Director.

You’ll manage purchase orders and supply chain for equipment delivery and be responsible for assuring visibility of subcon progress, readiness, risks, and issues. Responsible for coordinating activities and dependencies within the project and identifying external dependencies on other projects, resource, or environments.

You’ll also monitor ongoing programme baselines including cost and schedule. Control finance as a means to drive performance through the financial strategy and communicate through business plans, governance frameworks to ensure implementation. You’ll also influence and support the development of individuals in their continued professional development

Essential experience

  • Demonstrated experience in a similar Project Management role that has varying and significant complexity including experience across all phases of project lifecycle.
  • Mission Systems or similar engineering discipline is highly desirable.
  • Bachelor’s in engineering/ projects/ construction management or a related field
  • APM Chartered Professional (ChPP) or seeking to obtain in near term (12 month) period
  • Postgraduate qualification is also desirable, as is membership in a professional body
