The Global Category Lead – Logistics role is based within our Babcock Corporate Services (BCS) business unit.

Babcock Corporate Services (BCS) is a global function which supplies and operates all IT, security, procurement, and finance Shared Services. We are embedded alongside the operations that we serve, enabling us to maintain close working relationships that support delivery to our customers. We drive standardisation, simplification and automation across Babcock, to help generate sustainable value for the group and our external customers.

The roleThe difference our new Global Category Lead – Logistics will make

As a Global Category Lead – Logistics, you'll have a role that's out of the ordinary. You'll support the delivery of Logistics strategies across all our business functions, covering land, air, and sea.

Day to day, you'll use the appropriate application of strategic sourcing methods, supplier relationship management and your subject management expertise to develop Logistic strategies and implement Logistic management across Babcock.

Key deliverables will include the development of category management and procurement strategies to deliver warehousing and freight solutions that support multiple manufacturing and MRO facilities internationally.

You'll be responsible for up to £50 million expenditure, ensuring best practise and maximising value for business, through your expertise of the market, negotiating contracts with suppliers, and evaluating on-going contract and supplier performance.

Essential experience

Subject matter expertise in the procurement of Warehousing and Logistics, with proven experience in all aspects of Logistics including materials handling, stock management, 3PL and 4PL.

Proven track record of commercial negotiation and of identifying and delivering procurement savings.

Excellent knowledge and experience of a variety of contract forms, including drafting and negotiation.

Experience implementing process and strategies.

Capable of, and comfortable with, instigating positive challenge to traditional ways of working.

MCIPS, MCILT or other equivalent professional qualifications.
