Marine Engineering & Systems – T31

The Engineering Manager role is based within our Marine Engineering & Systems – T31 business area.

Babcock is rapidly establishing itself as an international Naval ship designer and builder. We have built on the success of the UK MoD Type 31 Frigate and have secured contracts for frigate export variants (AH140) with overseas customers. As well as supporting exports of frigates the engineering team is actively working on other ship newbuild and life extension programs around the world, from small fast attack craft all the way up to aircraft carriers.

The role

The difference our new Engineering Manager will make

As a Engineering Manager, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. Working with a highly skilled and dedicated time, together you will achieve goals in timescales never seen before.
Day to day, you’ll hold responsibility for ensuring the compilation and maintenance of accurate integrated life support (ILS) Registers, liaising as required with stakeholders across the T31 Commissioning team to co-ordinate the timely delivery of ILS element plans, ensuring overall coherence and provide local support to the ILS Obsolescence Manager.

Essential experience

• Understanding of warship systems and equipment.
• Working knowledge of RN Maintenance Management policies and practices (BR1313). 
• Working understanding of appropriate ILS Defence Standards including 00-600 and 02-041.
• Ability to work in a complex, multi-discipline team.
• Strong written communication skills; the delivery of well structured, unambiguous technical documentation and reports.
• Strong verbal communication skills. 
• Degree or HNC qualified in an engineering discipline (mechanical, marine, electrics/electronics, systems or information systems) or relevant experience at the discretion of the Warships Engineering Director / T31 Head of Supportability.
• Chartered Engineer or Incorporated Engineer working towards Chartered status.
